Описание заведения Tsarske Selo
Tsarske Selo is the first Ukrainian national cuisine restaurant opened in 1998. We dearly preserve the best traditions of the Ukrainian hospitality and create a unique atmosphere of comfort and friendliness to be enjoyed by each of our visitors.
We are located at the very heart of Kyiv City – on Ivan Mazepa Street, only a brick throw away from the Pecherska Lavra, in the former gunpowder storage facility of the Pecherskiy stronghold. The ancient Ukrainian cuisine recipes and delicate aromas in the atmosphere of the true tsar village make each of our visitors a true gourmand.
Generosity and abundance – these are the two of our main rules. Bon appetite and have a truly tsar-like rest!
See you soon!
History of the Restaurant:
During the Kyiv Rus times this location was occupied by the village Berestovo with the out-of-town residence of the Kyiv monarchs and Pecherskiy and Nikolskiy monasteries. Later the monasteries became surrounded by Lavra and Nikolskaya residential districts mostly occupied by monastery servants. At the end of the 17th century under hetman I. Samoylovych commenced the construction of Pecherskiy stronghold. The stronghold boasted three arches: Kiev, Vasylkiv and Moscow, with lift-bridges over the graff. Now, among several military bridges, the Moscow and Vasylkiv arches are still preserved.
In September, 1998 our restaurant was opened in the former gunpowder storage facility of the Pecherskiy stronghold to treat the true gourmands to the most delicious courses.
The courses here are cocked according to the ancient recipes; their historical names are preserved. The restaurant restores the interiors of a 17th century Ukrainian village with the use of authentic antiques of those days.
We offer You to taste both traditional Ukrainian beverages and vintage vines from Europe. Aside from the service at the highest level our personnel speaks foreign languages to guarantee a comfortable visit to our restaurant for our foreign guests.
Thus, it is no surprise that Tsarske Selo is one of the favorite Kiev restaurants visited by guests from all over the world.
